The individual must demonstrate the ability to lead a program with a tradition of excellence in both athletics and academics with integrity and energy.

NOVA Head Lacrosse Coach Job Description 2016-17

Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) is currently accepting applications for the position of head lacrosse coach for the 2016-2017 Season. NOVA is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association and competes at the Division I level in the lacrosse.

This is a Part-time/Non-benefit position and pays $6,000 ($3,000 fall/$3,000 spring).

Job Description: The Head Coach is the person responsible for all aspects of leading a NJCAA Lacrosse program. This includes, but is not limited to, recruitment of prospective student-athletes, student-athlete development, competition preparation and strategy, supervision of assistant coaches, scheduling, alumni and public relations, fundraising, adherence to NJCAA rules and regulations, and general administrative duties. The Head Coach will also be responsible for supporting the philosophy, goals and Mission of both the college and its Athletic program as well as adherence to departmental, college, and NJCAA policies and procedures.

Recruiting: The Head Coach is responsible for recruiting the student-athletes.

Team Preparation: The Head Coach is responsible for training, teaching and conditioning student-athletes in preparation for all intercollegiate contests. The Head Coach will plan and supervise practices, prepare game strategies and coach the team at contests.

Administrative Responsibilities: The Head Coach will work directly with the Athletic Director on a variety of administrative tasks including, but not limited to, scheduling of practices and games, annual reports, recruiting logs, providing rosters, eligibility, team travel and promotion of team.

NJCAA Rules Compliance: The Head Coach will be responsible for knowledge of, and adherence to, NJCAA rules and regulations pertaining to recruiting, eligibility, and general operation of the lacrosse program.

Supervise Staff: The Head Coach is responsible for the hiring, evaluation and supervision of assistant coaches. The Head Coach provides mentoring, guidance and oversight of assistants in all aspects.

Fundraising: The Head Coach will help in fundraising activities for both the general athletic program and the lacrosse program.

Required / Preferred Qualifications: Associates Degree required. Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred. Coaching experience at the high school level required, but collegiate level experience is preferred. Knowledge and understanding of NCAA and NJCAA Rules Compliance is required. Prior experience with recruiting, skill instruction, practice/game plan development, staff supervision, and administrative responsibilities required. Valid driver’s license.
