Esports Weekly Recap: League of Legends ends regular season

Saturday, March 2nd (Overwatch) – L, 3-0 vs. Harrisburg University
Saturday, March 2nd (League of Legends) – W, 2-0 vs. University of Texas Rio Grande Valley
Sunday, March 3rd (Overwatch) – L, 3-1 vs. Christopher Newport University

ANNANDALE – The Northern Virginia Community College Esports Overwatch team lost both games of the playoffs, while League of Legends won by forfeit over Texas Rio Grande Valley.

Overwatch:
L, 3-0 versus Harrisburg
In the third round of the playoffs the Nighthawks faced their kryptonite from the regular season once again. NOVA's games did not go in favor of the Nighthawks as they went home in a 3-0 series. The loss put the Nighthawks dreams of making the National Championship Playoffs on the shoulders of the other brackets; The Regional League happening on Sunday, and The National League yet to be announced.

L, 3-1 vs. CNU Overwatch
The Nighthawks clinging to their dream to make National Playoffs went into the third round of the Regional League Playoffs. NOOVA was off to a rocky start losing the first map in decisive fashion. The second map, Hollywood, NOVA fights back to claim the map in overtime tying up the series. From there on out CNU cleaned up the series off the back of a few mistakes from the Nighthawks. If NOVA makes playoffs in the National League it will be their last chance at a National Championship Playoffs spot.

W, 2-0 vs. University of Texas Rio Grande Valley
Nighthawks League of Legends ended their regular season 3-3 after an unfortunate forfeit from their opponent for this week. The post season for the Nighthawks League of Legends team begins the week of March 11.
