Felder’s two triple-doubles No. 1 moment

ANNANDALE -- The 2016-17 season brought many highlights, and we have now reached the top moment in the Northern Virginia Community College athletic department countdown of the 10 best. The list is comprised of individual and team highlights from the field of play.

The NOVA athletic department has selected Tariq Felder’s back-to-back triple-doubles in the first and second round of the NJCAA Region 20 Tournament as the No. 1 moment of the 2016-17 season. Felder’s milestone is the first triple-double for the Nighthawks since Curtis Lovitt’s back on Nov. 25, 2014.

Felder’s first triple-double came on the heels of a 25 point, 10 rebound and 10 assist night against Beaver County in the opening round of the postseason. Just three days later the Dumfries, native poured in 23, grabbed 14 rebounds and dished 13 assists at Garrett.

During the two-game stretch, Felder was 21-of-31 (.677 percent) from the floor and 6-for-7 from the line. He averaged 24 points, 12 rebounds and 11.5 assists per game.

In his only season with NOVA, Felder scored over 20 points 11 times and had 15 double-digit rebounding nights.
