ANNANDALE – The Northern Virginia Community College men's basketball team is back in action Thursday at Patrick Henry and then Sunday the Nighthawks host ninth ranked Sandhills at noon inside Ernst Gymnasium.
Recap last weekend
NOVA went 1-1 at the Montgomery Tip-Off Classic with a win over CCBC Dundalk and a loss to host Montgomery. The Nighthawks had four average double figures – the group was led by Frank Agyemang, who dropped 28 points a game, while Trevaun Hyatt averaged a double-double at 19.5 points and 10 rebounds per contest.
Looking deeper into the weekend
As a team NOVA shot 47 percent from the floor, 53 percent outside and pulled down 47.5 rebounds. However, the Nighthawks put their two foes on the line 14 more times and turned the ball over 45 times.
Playing at home
The home cookin' hasn't been kind to the Nighthawks through two games this season, as they are 0-2. Drew Jackson has scored 38 points and has pulled down 15 rebounds at home, while Hyatt is scoring 9.5 points and grabbing 13.5 rebounds per game.
After Thursday's road game, the Nighthawks play six of their next seven at home with the only matchup away from Annandale on Dec. 4 at Hagerstown.
A look a Patrick Henry
The Sentinels play a limited schedule this season and go toe-to-toe with NOVA twice over a 12-day period. The first game of the season for PHC is Thursday against the Nighthawks.
Scouting the Flyers
Sandhills opened the season with an 82-point win over New River and has gone over the century mark three times. The Flyers are averaging nearly 98 points a game, and are holding their foes to 78 points.
