ANNANDALE – Joe Davis scored a game-high 28 points and Terrell Walker added 12 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Northern Virginia Community College men's basketball team to a 77-73 victory over Hagerstown Thursday night.
The 3-7 Nighthawks are back in action this weekend in the Ben Williams classic hosted by Baltimore City Saturday afternoon.
Over five minutes into the game, NOVA was down 21-11, but the Nighthawks clawed their way out of the hole and led 24-23 after one of the four Davis three's on the evening.
NOVA, however, quickly gave the lead back to the Hawks, as the Nighthawks were down eight (32-24) after a 9-0 Hagerstown run. The Nighthawks finished the half on a 15-8 run, which saw them go into the break down 40-39.
After the Hawks scored the first bucket of the new half, NOVA scored eight of the next 10 points to regain the lead 47-43. When the Nighthawks took the advantage two minutes into the second half they would not ever go down by more than a point the rest of the way.
With 3:45 remaining Hagerstown went up 70-69, but the Nighthawks finished the game on an 8-3 run that was capped off by three Emmanuel Miller game-clinching free throws.
