THIS WEEK IN NOVA ATHLETICS: Dec. 11 – Dec. 19

ANNANDALE – The Northern Virginia Community College men's and women's basketball teams finish out the first half of the season next week against Bryant and Stratton. However, before welcoming the Bobcats, the Nighthawks host Basketball Victoria (Australia) in an exhibition doubleheader game Thursday.

Thursday, Dec. 13
5 p.m. – Women's Basketball versus Basketball Victoria (Exhibition)
7 p.m. -- Men's Basketball versus Basketball Victoria (Exhibition)

Wednesday, Dec. 19
5 p.m. – Women's Basketball versus Bryant and Stratton
7 p.m. – Men's Basketball versus Bryant and Stratton

Men's Basketball
NOVA dropped both contests in the Ben Williams Classic over the weekend and have fallen in five of the its last six games. The only win that stretch was a 77-73 win over Hagerstown a week ago.

The Nighthawks are 1-1 this season at home, and have been led offensively by Joe Davis, who scoring 25.5 points per game inside the Ernst Center. Terrell Walker, meanwhile, is averaging a double-double at home as he has gone off for 12.5 points and 10.5 rebounds a contest.

Women's Basketball
The beginning of the six-game homestand got off to a rocky start last week when NOVA fell 74-59 to Hagerstown. The Nighthawks outscored the Hawks 52-36 in three quarters of the game, but a scoring drought in the second period allowed Hagerstown to escape with a win.

In three games at home, the Nighthawks are 0-3 and have averaged just 52 points a game. NOVA has gotten double digit scoring averages from Nahdeyah Quarles (14.5), Mia Buchanon (13.3) and Natasha Porter (13.0).
