ANNANDALE – After averaging 23 points per game and shooting a blistering 52 percent (20-of-38) from outside, sophomore Michael Elliot has been named NJCAA Division II National Player of the Week
Elliot broke the school record for points (41) and three-point field goals (12) in the 105-87 victory over 19th ranked Frederick. The Sterling, Va., native also helped the Nighthawks go 2-1 last week and earn the fifth seed in the upcoming NJCAA Region 20 Division II Tournament.
The 41 points and 12 3’s broke the previous mark of 37 and nine, which was set by Frank Agyemang last season.
Elliot is the second men’s basketball student-athlete to pick NJCAA National Player of the Week honors, joining Samuel Taylor in 2015.
