Fuentes and Rickmann transfer to four-year schools

ANNANDALE – Former Northern Virginia Community College soccer student-athletes Cristian Fuentes and Gabriel Rickmann are continuing their playing careers at four-year institutions in the fall. Fuentes is transferring to NCAA Division II Chowan, while Rickmann will attend NAIA Division I Florida Memorial.

Fuentes played one season with the Nighthawks and earned an NJCAA Region 20 Division III honorable mention nod after scoring 10 goals and dishing two assists. Prior to playing at NOVA, Fuentes dressed for Eastern Mennonite

The Alexandria, native played in all 15 matches in 2017 for the Nighthawks and scored the game-winning goal in three games, which came against Hagerstown, Allegany and in the regular season finale against Montgomery.

Rickmann, meanwhile, suited up at NOVA for two years and broke three school records for assists in a career, season and game. In his two seasons with the Nighthawks, Rickmann gave 15 assists and scored three times in 27 contests.

As a sophomore, Rickmann was named first team All-Region 20 and helped NOVA to a NJCAA top 10 ranking for the first time in school history.
