ANNANDALE – The Northern Virginia Community College athletic teams begin a week full of action that kicks off Monday for the soccer and volleyball teams, while the hockey squads completes the week Sunday against The Citadel.

The Nighthawks continue their unbeaten streak Sunday with a 6-0 victory over Old Dominion. NOVA has four straight periods of shutout hockey that began in the third period against ECU last Saturday evening.
The 2-0-1 Nighthawks have won five out of their last seven regular season games, which dates back to a 7-2 victory over Flager Jan. 20.
NOVA bounced back from a 6-4 loss against Howard almost two weeks ago after defeating Harrisburg 9-0, the Nighthawks are back in action for a pair of games this week. NOVA is playing a pair of Region 20 games, but those matches will not have an impact on the Division III standings.
The Nighthawks final three contests of the 2018 regular season are all against DIII foes starting Oct. 13 and concluding Oct. 18.
The second half of the volleyball season begins Monday at first place Hagerstown, who is 3-0 in Division II play. The Nighthawks, meanwhile, are in fourth place behind Potomac State, Montgomery and aforementioned Hagerstown.
Stat wise for NOVA, Rachel Scott is leading the team with 22 service aces, which ranks 16th in the region. Brittany Connatser, meanwhile, is fourth in the region in kills, as she has racked up 145 and is less than 30 behind the leader, Anna Chepurnova of Montgomery.
