ANNANDALE – Former Northern Virginia Community College softball All-America Chyann Hooker signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her career at NCAA Division II Salem University (W. Va.) for the upcoming 2019 season.
Hooker played two seasons with the Nighthawks and saw action in 21 games and started 21 times. During her career, the Stafford, Va., native batted .578 with 12 extra base hits, 24 RBIs and 19 runs.
She is the NOVA career leader in hits (37), doubles (10), RBIs, and total bases (52).
As a sophomore All-American, Hooker had four hits, four doubles and eight total bases in the game at Montgomery. She hit her first career home run at Christendom in 2018 and scored a career-high three runs at Anne Arundel.
Hooker becomes the first former Nighthawk softball student-athlete to sign an NLI with a four-year school.
