Montgomery garnering NJCAA Player of the Week No. 3 moment

ANNANDALE  -- We have now reached the top five in the Northern Virginia Community College athletic department countdown of the 10 best moments of the 2016-17 athletics season.  The list is comprised of individual and team highlights from the field of play.

The NOVA athletic department has selected Jalita Montgomery NJCAA National Player of the Week award as the No. 3 moment of the 2016-17 season. She captured the player of the week honor after the Nighthawks defeated Hagerstown and Howard Dec. 5 and Dec. 7.

For the week Montgomery averaged 25.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 10 steals per contest. The Bowie, Md., native nearly had the programs first triple-double as she came up one assist shy of the mark against Hagerstown.

After one season with the Nighthawks, Montgomery scored 378 points, picked up 65 steals, gave 64 assists and grabbed 79 rebounds as the point guard.
