ANNANDALE – After closing out last season with a victory on the road, the Northern Virginia Community women’s basketball team looks to continue the momentum into the 2017-18 campaign as it has announced the upcoming schedule.
The Nighthawks, who are led by second year head coach Jerome Cook, play 14 games inside Ernst Gymnasium beginning Nov. 1 against Allegany. A week later, NOVA welcomes instate foe Bryant and Stratton to Annandale.
Following the quick two-game homestand, the Nighthawks hit the road for three games, with two games at the Montgomery Tournament in Rockville, Md. NOVA returns home Nov. 28 to play Patrick Henry for the second time in eight days.
To begin the month of December, the Nighthawks participate in the Charm City Classic Dec. 1-2 and travel to Hagerstown Dec. 4.
After three games on the road, NOVA welcomes Region 20 foes Chesapeake Dec. 7 and Southern Maryland Dec. 18. Sandwiched in the middle is a battle with instate rival Thomas Nelson Dec. 15. The Nighthawks wrap up 2017 at Southern Maryland Dec. 21.
Starting the new year, NOVA welcomes beltway foe Prince George’s to Annandale Jan. 22 and Baltimore City Jan. 30. The Nighthawks travel west to Potomac State Jan. 27 and then head to Howard Jan. 29.
Rounding out the regular season, NOVA plays six of its final 10 games at home starting with Anne Arundel Feb. 1 and concluding the slate March 5 against Garrett. Also coming to Annandale is Potomac State (Feb. 15), Cecil (Feb. 21), Frederick (Feb. 27) and CCBC Catonsville (March 1).
This season the NOVA athletic department is broadcasting selected basketball games on the NOVA television channel and on social media. The Nighthawks will announce the broadcast schedule before the season begins.
