Tough day for Nighthawks

BALTIMORE – Jalita Montgomery and Natasha Porter led the Northern Virginia Community College women's basketball team Saturday afternoon, but Monroe downed the Nighthawks 109-46 in the second day of the Charm City Classic.

NOVA falls to 3-5 on the season and it returns to the floor Sunday in the final day of the Charm City Classic against Chesapeake.

Nine of the 10 Nighthawks, who played scored at least two points as Montgomery paced the team with 13 points. Porter, meanwhile, added 12 points, which was the fourth time this season she scored in double figures.

Cleaning the glass for NOVA was Tiya Anderson, who had a team-high eight rebounds, while Bilan Hajinur came off the bench to pull down seven boards. As a team the Nighthawks grabbed 44 rebounds.
