CUMBERLAND, Md. – Jalita Montgomery and Natasha Porter scored 56 points for the Northern Virginia Community College women's basketball team, but the Nighthawks dropped an 89-84 decision to Allegany Friday evening.
NOVA falls to 9-10 on the year, and returns to the floor Sunday at Bryant & Stratton beginning at 1 p.m. inside Maury High School.
The Nighthawks jumped out to a 25-14 lead after one quarter, as Montgomery led the way with 11 points. However, in second period action, NOVA struggled from the floor and were just 3-for-10, but were able to take a 34-24 advantage into the locker room.
In second half play, the Nighthawks were outscored 65-50, but they battled back from 10 down late in the fourth quarter to force overtime. During the extra session, NOVA Dima Kassem led the team with four points, but ACM used a 14-9 run to grab the win.
