NORFOLK, Va. – Theresa Sherrill finished with a career-high 15 points, and two others scored in double figures, but the Northern Virginia Community College women's basketball team could not bounce back after a pair of tough quarters, as Bryant & Stratton was victorious 79-46.
The Nighthawks fall to 9-11 and return to the floor Tuesday at NJCAA Region 20 foe Harford for a 5 p.m. tip.
Sherrill scored six of her 15 points in the first period on 3-for-4 shooting and she also grabbed two offensive rebounds. Dima Kassem, meanwhile, was a perfect 2-for-2 from the floor, but NOVA committed five turnovers.
During the middle two quarters, NOVA had 12 turnovers and hit just five field goals. Natasha Porter led the Nighthawks in the third period, as she scored six of her 11 points on the day.
In final quarter action, Jalita Montgomery scored a pair of buckets, as she finished the day with 14 points. The defense, meanwhile, held the Bobcats to just 16 points, but the deficit proved to be too large to overcome for NOVA.
