NOVA snaps skid with win over Commonwealth rivial TNC

ANNANDALE – Jalita Montgomery inched closer to the 1,000-point mark after a 44-point performance Saturday in the 83-74 victory for the Northern Virginia Community College women's basketball team over in-state rival Thomas Nelson.

The Nighthawks are 10-12 and return to the hardwood Monday against Region 20 opponent Potomac State inside Ernst Gymasium at 5 p.m.

To go along with her 44 points, Montgomery and Bilan Hajinur each grabbed 10 rebounds to lead NOVA. Natasha Porter, meanwhile, added eight rebounds dished nine assists and scored 12 points.

Hajinur also hit double digits for the Nighthawks, as it was just her second time to score 10 or more points in a contest. It was also her second career double-double – her first double-double came against Patrick Henry back in November.

Monday's game against the Catamounts begins the final four-game homestand for the Nighthawks as they wrap up the regular season Thursday, March 1 against CCBC Catonsville.
