ANNANDALE – The Northern Virginia Community College athletic department is counting down the top 10 moments of the 2017-18 season. The list is comprised of individual and team highlights from the field of play.
The Nighthawks athletic department has selected Jalita Montgomery’s 51 point showing at Howard as our number three moment. Her tally is the second highest of all-time on the NJCAA Division II level – one behind Kandy Lindsay, who scored 52 for Lake Land during the 1999-00 season.
Montgomery, who played two seasons for NOVA scored a school record 976 points, and also holds every offensive record. During her sophomore season she hit the 30-point mark five times and went over 40 twice.
The Bowie, Md., native became the first NOVA women’s basketball student-athlete to take home two All-Region 20 selections. Montgomery led the region in scoring at 22.1 points per game, along with steals (132), free throws (113-for-175) and field goals (218-of-615).
