NOVA hits .301 in sweep of Riverhawks

ARNOLD, Md. – Three members of the Northern Virginia Community College volleyball team combined for 22 kills and helped the Nighthawks to a straight set victory over Anne Arundel Tuesday evening in Region 20 play.

NOVA defeated the Riverhawks, 25-2, 25-13, 25-16 and with the win improve to 12-12 this season. The Nighthawks return to the floor Thursday, Oct. 19 at CCBC Essex for a 7 p.m. first serve.

Lauren Havill led the way with nine kills, while Nikola Knapova smacked seven and Star Mebane-Uriarte added six. Mebane-Uriarte also chipped in with three solo and two assisted blocks to go along with one ace.

Sarah Abisourour, meanwhile, dished game-high 27 assists and picked up match-best nine service aces. As a team, NOVA had 16 aces, as seven different Nighthawks also had at least one ace Tuesday evening.
