HAGERSTOWN, Md. – Brittany Connatser and Deveis Wooten combined to smack down 20 kills to help the Northern Virginia Community College volleyball team to a straight set (25-18, 26-24, 25-21) victory over Hagerstown Monday evening in Region 20 Division II action.
The Nighthawks, who hit .231 for the match improve to 9-3 this season and return to action Friday in Hickory, N.C. at the Catawba Valley Invitational.
During first set action, NOVA was led by Connatser, who had six kills and hit .455, while Sarah Abisourour gave 12 assists. Defensively for the Nighthawks, Connatser had a solo block to go along with four digs.
NOVA struggled in the second set, as the unit hit .121 and had to rally late from a 17-12 deficit. The Nighthawks tied stanza up at 20 and forced the Hawks to call a timeout, and then went on to finish things off by outscoring HCC 6-4 the rest of the way.
To make it a clean sweep, NOVA hit an impressive .278 and committed just three attack errors in the final set. Abisourour, meanwhile, had three kills during third set action, and also gave 10 assists, which gave her 30 on the evening and 278 on the season, which ranks third in the region.
