Almost heaven, West Virginia

LA PLATA, Md. – For the second time since 2015, the Northern Virginia Community College volleyball team is going to have a chance to play for an NJCAA National Championship after defeating a previously unbeaten and 17th ranked Montgomery in four sets Saturday.

The Nighthawks are 17-12 and begin play in the National Championship bracket Thursday, Nov. 15 in Charleston, W.Va.

In the three sets that NOVA won, the Nighthawks had a combined 41 kills, but in the third stanza they finished with just six kills and hit -.053.

Brittany Connatser, who was named to the all-tournament team led the Nighthawks offensive attack, as she finished the match with 19 kills, while Lauren Havill added a season-best 14 kills. Sarah Abisourour was also on the all-tournament squad and tacked on 43 assists to go along with eight digs.

During the Region 20 Tournament, Connatser finished the weekend with 49 kills, while Abisourour dished 83 assists.
