CLEVELAND, Ohio – The NJCAA Cross Country Coaches Association has announced its annual Scholar All-Americans, as two Northern Virginia Community College student-athletes garnered individual honors.
To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must be fulltime and earn a GPA of 3.40 or better. Taking home the Scholar All-America award for NOVA this season was Kmaljeet Athwal and Meili Wood, who had the best GPA during the fall semester.
The Nighthawks were also one of 24 teams to garner Academic Team of the Year. As a squad, NOVA had the nations 21st highest GPA at the NJCAA Division I National Championship in November.
"I'm really proud of Kmal and Meili for their hard work in the classroom this fall," head coach Nicole Mancini said. "This is the third time my team has earned one of the nations highest GPA's, and I couldn't be happier."
