ANNANDALE – The Northern Virginia Community College soccer and volleyball teams are in action this week. Both squads are home Tuesday, with soccer kicking off at 3 p.m. and volleyball first serve set for 7 p.m.

The Nighthawks scored four goals in the first half at Richard Bland – three by Jack Carroll, which was the first time a NOVA student-athlete scored a hattrick. Goal keeper Emmanuel Vargas, meanwhile, had his fifth double digit save performance Tuesday as he made 11 stops.
NOVA’s Saturday contest was postponed due to a scheduling conflict and is expected to made up. The Nighthawks have one NJCAA Region 20 Division III match this week at Anne Arundel. The Riverhawks are 2-1-0 in D-III action, while NOVA sits at 0-2-0.
Just seven matches remain on the slate for the Nighthawks with six of the contests coming against Region 20 Division II opponents. NOVA currently sits in third in the D-II standings just one game behind Hagerstown and Montgomery.
Brittany Connatser is fourth in the region in kills, while Elena Swale is fifth in assists and Mollie Simon sits in second in total blocks.
