ANNANDALE – Wednesday kicks off the week for the Northern Virginia Community College athletic teams. The Nighthawk basketball squad start the week at Chesapeake, while hockey completes the weekend against Florida Tech.

Terrell Walker began his NOVA career with a 13 point and 11 rebound performance, while Joe Davis added 23 points. The Nighthawks, however, dropped a two-point decision to Harford in the season opener.
Last season against Chesapeake, NOVA downed the Skipjacks 85-73 behind 31 points and 15 rebounds from Drew Jackson. The Nighthawks defense held Chesapeake to a 31 percent shooting performance from the field and 19 percent from beyond the arc.
The Nighthawks had two double digit scorer in the season opener as Mia Buchanon and Taylor Lynch scored a combined 25 points. NOVA though struggled shooting, as the team shot 12-of-25 from the floor and 1-of-18 from outside.
A year ago, the Nighthawks lost twice to Chesapeake falling 81-41 in Baltimore and 53-49 inside the Ernst Center. Jalita Montgomery had a game-high 26 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the home game.
After snapping a three-game losing streak with a 5-4 win over Radford to close out October, the Nighthawks fell twice over the weekend against Catholic. NOVA had a pair of high scoring affairs against the Cardinals, as CUA won the games by a combined score of 12-9.
