The Nighthawks suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 loss at Prince George's the last time out and look to rebound against instate foe Christendom Saturday.

The Crusaders open their season Tuesday at Washington Adventist and host Berkeley (N.J.) Friday before traveling east on I-66 Saturday. A season ago, NOVA and Christendom were supposed to meet on the pitch, but the match was cancelled.

In the season opening three-set victory over Chesapeake, the Nighthawks were led by Ivanna Jorge, who had six kills in her debut. Brittany Connatser and Deveis Wooten, meanwhile, added four kills each to help pace NOVA to victory.

Last season, the Nighthawks swept the Owls behind 25 kills from Wooten and Connatser, while Sarah Abisourour added 23 assists. Against the Dragons, NOVA hit .386 and as a team finished the match with 38 kills.
