THIS WEEK IN NOVA ATHLETICS: Sept. 15 – Sept. 22

 

ANNANDALE – The Northern Virginia Community College volleyball and soccer teams return to action this week, while the Nighthawks hockey team plays an exhibition contest Saturday night inside Prince William Ice Center.

Monday, Sept. 16
5 p.m. – Volleyball at Beaver County

Tuesday, Sept. 17
4:30 p.m. – Soccer at Christendom
7 p.m. – Volleyball at Frederick

Thursday, Sept. 19
7 p.m. – Potomac State at Volleyball

Saturday, Sept. 21
9:40 p.m. – Hockey (Green and Gold Exhibition)

Hockey
The first chance to see the NOVA squad is Saturday evening at Prince William Ice Center. The Nighthawks are playing a Green and Gold scrimmage first before welcoming Old Dominion for the first game of the season Saturday, Oct. 5.

Soccer
After getting shutout in the last two matches, the Nighthawks will try and rebound Tuesday against USCAA foe Christendom. NOVA has been blanked 1-0 in back-to-back games by Prince George's and Frederick.

Tuesday's game Is the first meeting between Christendom and the Nighthawks, which is slated for a 4:30 p.m. kickoff.

Volleyball
After dropping the last three matches of the Monroe Invitational, the Nighthawks jump back into Region 20 action Monday at Beaver County. NOVA then travels rival Frederick Tuesday before coming home Thursday to host Potomac State.

Brittany Connatser leads the Nighthawks in kills (58) with four other Nighthawks coming in with 20 or more.  Mollie Simon, meanwhile, has 11 solo blocks and seven block assists to NOVA early in the 2019 campaign.
