ANNANDALE -- The Northern Virginia Community College men's and women's basketball teams return to the court Thursday, while hockey travels south on I 95 to Richmond to take on VCU Saturday night.

After a snowy weekend cancelled the trip to upstate New York, the Nighthawks begin the second half of the season Thursday against instate foe Thomas Nelson. NOVA is 6-1 all-time against TNC with the Nighthawks winning four straight.
The Nighthawks only loss in the series was Jan. 24, 2015 when the Gators came out on top 81-77. Donta Alston led NOVA with 19 points, while Chris Archie added 16 points and 16 rebounds.
Thursday's game is the fourth of six straight home games for the Nighthawks, and the first since the Dec. 19 contest against Bryant and Stratton. The Nighthawks have won all five meetings between the two instate rivals.
Last season, NOVA was victorious 83-74 in Hampton, Va. Jalita Montgomery, meanwhile, scored a game-high 44 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, while two Nighthawks others hit the double figure mark.
After playing four exhibitions matches in the fall, the Nighthawks play their first regular season contest in school history. NOVA goes toe-to-toe against LSU Purple squad in League of Legends.
During the exhibtion season, the Nighthawks went 3-1 between the League of Legends and Overwatch teams.The only loss for NOVA came against Florida Southern.
Looking to snap a four-game skid, NOVA hits the road to the state capital to play VCU Saturday evening. The Nighthawks and Rams played earlier this season, as VCU came out on top 5-2. NOVA led 2-1 early in the second period, but VCU scored four unanswered goals to grab the win.
