ANNANDALE – Rachel Scott had five service aces, seven assists and four digs to help the Northern Virginia Community College volleyball team to a straight set (25-2, 25-15, 25-6) victory over NJCAA Region 20 Division II foe Allegany Monday evening inside Ernst Gymnasium.

The Nighthawks even their season total to 12-12 and are back home Tuesday against CCBC Essex at 7 p.m.

Brittany Connatser had eight aces in the opening set, which helped give the 14-2 advantage midway through. Following a rare NOVA miscue, Lauren Havill finished things off by pounding down three of her six kills on the night, as the Nighthawks hit .700.

NOVA doubled up the Trojans 18-9 in the second set following an ACM attack error. The Nighthawks, however struggled to put the Trojans away, as NOVA had four errors and just six kills over its final seven points.

To close out the match, the Nighthawks opened up with a 13-0 lead after one Deveis Wooten's team-high nine kills. ACM responded with a 6-3 swing, but the Nighthawks wrapped things up with a 9-0 run that included four Audrey Bartels aces.

With a win tomorrow, the Nighthawks will have secured the third seed in the upcoming Region 20 Championship that is scheduled for Nov. 2 and Nov. 3.
