Second ranked Parkland too much for NOVA

CHARLESTON, W. Va. – Brittany Connatser had a team-high seven kills for the Northern Virginia Community College volleyball squad Thursday morning, but No. 2 Parkland (Ill.) came away with the straight set (25-8, 25-11, 25-7) victory in the first round of the NJCAA National Championship Tournament.

Connatser had an early first set kill to make it 3-2 Cobras, but on the next serve PCC began a 9-0 run that made it 12-2. Connatser helped to end the run as she hammered the ball down on a feed from Sarah Abisourour, who had eight assists on the day.

The Nighthawks could not capitalize on the Connatser kill.

In second set action, Audrey Bartels made it 5-3, but the Cobras again quickly pulled away and made it 17-9. Ariadna Sanchez would make it 17-10 when on a service ace, which was the only ace for the Nighthawks.

Deveis Wooten, who had four kills tried to give NOVA a final set push as she made it 10-5, but PCC was too much, as the Cobras finished the match with a 15-2 swing.
