FREDERICK, Md. –Brittany Connatser finished with a team-high eight kills, but the Northern Virginia Community College volleyball team couldn't overcome a .212 setting percentage as Frederick (27-25, 25-16, 25-23) swept the Nighthawks Tuesday night in Region 20 Division II action.
NOVA falls to 6-5 in 2019 and returns to action Thursday against rival Potomac State, which is also Faculty and Staff night.
Following two straight attack errors by the Cougars late in the opening stanza, the Nighthawks were leading 23-16. FCC responded with a 6-0 run that was ended on a Deveis Wooten kill to make it 24-22.
NOVA, however, could not close out the set as the Cougars outscored the Nighthawks 5-1 the rest of the way.
In the final set, the Nighthawks trailed 18-13, but fought back behind a 7-3 swing that made it 21-20. NOVA though could not draw any closer, as FCC finished the match off on a 5-3 run.
