Winners of six straight

HAGERSTOWN, Md. – It was an all-around team effort for the Northern Virginia Community College volleyball team, as the Nighthawks have won six straight with a straight set (25-10, 25-9, 25-18) victory over Southern Maryland in Saturday's NJCAA Region 20 quarterfinals.

The Nighthawks are now 15-12 and play Montgomery Sunday in the semifinals at 11 a.m. on the campus of Hagerstown Community College.

Brittany Connatser and Ivanna Jorge led NOVA with eight kills each, while Deveis Wooten added five to pace the offense. Dishing the ball for the Nighthawks was Elena Swale and Hailey Villegas, who combined for 30 for assists.

Connatser needs just 73 more kills to become NOVA's all-time leader in that category.
