ANNANDALE – The Northern Virginia Community College cross country, soccer and volleyball teams all return to action this weekend. Cross county is at the Naval Academy Invitational, volleyball plays in the Empire State and soccer returns home for a matches against Westmoreland and Frederick.

3 p.m. – Volleyball versus St. Johns River
In the opening race at Howard, Tyler Means finished 10th and less than two minutes behind the winner Melanie White of Howard. Aziza Abdela Hasenss started the race for the Nighthawks but had to pull out due to injury.
This week's 6 kilometer race takes place at the Naval Academy beginning at 9:45 a.m. Last season six teams participated in the event with Navy besting second place Maryland by 55 points.
Following a cancellation last week, NOVA returns to the pitch for a pair matches starting Friday against Westmoreland and Saturday against Frederick. Friday's game is at Ossian Hall Park in Annandale, which kicks off at 3 p.m.
Nighthawks keeper Emmanuel Vargas has made 19 saves in 180 minutes of work this season and has allowed just three goals.
Following Thursday's three set victory over Howard, the Nighthawks got back into action Saturday at Harford. NOVA won a four set match against the Owls, but lost in straight sets to nationally recognized Monroe.
Mollie Simon had 23 kills between the three matches last week and finished with three aces, six solo blocks and two block assists.
